Who?What?Where?Why?

We are a lively Casualties Union Branch, originally formed in 1946.  Consisting of over ten members (see opposite) we are involved in the provision of casualties and make-up for a wide variety of events.  We also provide significant human resources for the National organisation in the  form of three Senior Instructors,  the Webmistress and the Public Relations Officer.  We are based in Reading, Berkshire with members from nearby counties including Hampshire.

In 2007, we won the Lotus Trophy, awarded to the Branch who can provide the best evidence that they are promoting the name of Casualties Union and maintaining the spirit as the founder intended. In conjuction with this, our members also won the Glaxo Slaver and John Wise Rosebowl .

ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)

With many years experience in make-up techniques, we provide the most accurate simulations possible.  This enables the training of doctors to high standard and their assessment against very realistic casualties (see photos).

Members
Brenda - Senior Instructor, with over 50 years experience, starting as a youth member.  Hon. Vice-President, always has a smile with lively conversation and is a dab-hand with facial make-up.
Brett - Senior Instructor, with many years experience Chair of Reading Branch.  Currently the Senior Instructor's Panel Representative, and a very good assessor, one of the best for constructive feedback.
Nick - Senior Instructor, and Treasurer for Reading Branch.  An excellent person for feedback on that tricky wound.
Rodney - Instructor, Public Relations Officer and Secretary for Reading Branch.  Regularly gives demonstrations and also talks on local radio.
Martin - Always ready with a daft comment, but the make-up isn't daft.
Paul - Instructor, quiet, but really rather good at make-up and acting... also a good first aider, a real empath.
Graham - Demonstrator, a very good unconscious body.  Also good at thinking up bizarre scenarios.
Hester - Demonstrator, prefers attention-seeking acting, but can be a very scary quiet one. Winner of the John Wise Rose Bowl in 2007, awarded annually to any member showing exceptional ability in make-up.
Shirley - Usually gets you on the blatently obvious, has just the right face for it.
Stuart - Winner of the Glaxo Salver in 2007 - Awarded annually to any member showing exceptional ability in portrayal of any designated role.
