Union has an active youth section (termed Junior) of 8-16 year olds.
Junior Probationer
Initially, everyone
starts as a probationer receiving training in all parts of casualty simulation.
This helps you to work towards the "Junior Member Level: Development Portfolio"
Junior Member
When you have completed
your "Junior Member Level: Development Portfolio" you continue to
practise make-up, acting, staging and planning realistic incidents. The
"Junior Member Level: Development Portfolio" includes the following ten
modules:
1. Introduction
to Acting:
Nose bleed, headache,
toothache, knocked shin, black eye, wasp sting.
2. Acting
Minor Injuries:
Fractures to - rib,
arm, jaw, collar bone.
3. Acting
Severe Injuries:
Major fractures,
medical conditions.
4. Acting
Altered Levels of Consciousness:
Recovery from faint,
concussion, head injuries.
5. Staging:
Safety considerations,
use of props.
6. Facial
Make-up:
Slight shock, severe
shock.
7. Make-up
for minor injuries:
Bruises, small wounds,
abrasions.
8. Make-up
for burns:
Reddening, blistering.
9. Make-up
for fractures:
Closed fractures.
10. Incident
Planning:
Safety considerations,
selection of locations/injuries, appropriate staging.
Advanced Junior
If you are very
good at casualty simulation, then you can go on to complete the "Adult
Member Level: Development Portfolio", gaining your "Advanced Junior"
grade.
